Goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann has been warned he will not be able to walk straight into the Eintracht Frankfurt team after signing from Schalke.
Fahrmann joins Markus Proll and Oka Nikolov in the goalkeeper ranks at Eintracht, and goalkeeping coach Andreas Menger expects a tough fight for the No. 1 shirt.
"We will have to see about that," Menger said when asked if Fahrmann was first choice. "He arrives with lots of glowing reports and has a great reputation, but we will have to see how he copes in training.
"I will have to see him for a few weeks before I can say whether he is good enough to become goalkeeper of the national team in future."
Perhaps the biggest challenge for the 20-year-old Fahrmann is to prove to new boss Michael Skibbe that he can cope with the pressure of starting for the first team.
Fahrmann has only three Bundesliga appearances under his belt, and is more accustomed to play for Schalke's reserves in the lower leagues.
"We will have to wait and see how he copes with the pressure he would be under being our number one," added Menger in the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper.
"Every other week, there are 50,000 fans behind you hoping to see a new Uli Stein, a new super goalkeeper.
"That is far more pressure than being number three behind Manuel Neuer and Mathias Schober and playing in front of 350 people at the weekend against Erkenschwick."
Nevertheless, Menger is delighted Frankfurt have captured such a talented goalkeeper who he now hopes to assist in taking the next step in his career.
"Fahrmann is a talented man and was part of the preliminary under-21 squad which prepared for the European Championships," he added.
"Eintracht Frankfurt don't usually manage to get players like him. They usually end up at Stuttgart or another top club.
"Therefore, Eintracht have done really well here. I am really looking forward to (coaching) Fahrmann.
"Of course I have the ambition of supporting him and building him up, but the other three goalkeepers will not suffer from it. They will all be treated equally."
