Sparta Rotterdam have finally ended their search for a new coach by appointing Frans Adelaar.
The 48-year-old will leave his current post as coach of FC Volendam to take up the role, signing a two-year contract.
Sparta had been in the market for a new coach with Foeke Booy, who led the club to a credible 13th place in the recently-completed Eredivisie, heading back to FC Utrecht to become their technical director.
Aad de Mos had been Sparta's first choice but negotiations broke down yesterday.
However, 48-year-old Adelaar has accepted the job offer and brings with him coaching experience from spells with Utrecht, De Graafschap and ADO Den Haag.
Adelaar spent one season with Volendam, who were relegated from the top flight on the final day, and had one year left on his contract at the Kras Stadion.
