FC Twente boss Steve McClaren is hoping to sign Roda JC striker Sekou Cisse to strengthen his attacking options.
The Enschede club have already started pre-season, with their first Champions League qualifier only five weeks away.
"I've had good talks with Cisse and he wants to join FC Twente," McClaren told De Telegraaf.
"One of our goals is to strengthen the squad in wide areas. Kenneth Perez and Blaise N'Kufo were used in about 50 games last season. That's too much.
"That's why we must be able to make changes."
McClaren wants to improve on last season, when Twente came second in the Eredivisie and lost in the final of the KNVB Beker to Heerenveen.
"It was a great season but it ended with disappointment," he added.
"The feeling of wanting to do better will be an important motivation for us."
