The centre-back was linked with a January transfer to Bristol City earlier in the campaign after limited opportunities but is now far happier at the Liberty Stadium.
Monk has made two Capital One Cup appearances and also gave a notable performance in last weekend's Premier League draw with European champions Chelsea.
Those matches have improved the defender's state of mind and he hopes to be impressing manager Michael Laudrup, who took over in the summer.
"There was nothing I could do until January even had I wanted to (leave)," Monk told the South Wales Evening Post.
"I said I'd work hard in training. I got on the bench against Liverpool. I did all right and managed to get a start against Chelsea. I did fine. So it is a happier Garry Monk."
