The Dutch shot-stopper picked up the injury in the Swans' defeat by Manchester City on October 27 in a desperate attempt to stop Carlos Tevez's winner.

Vorm, 29, was seen as one of the bargains of the Premier League last season, costing just £1.5million from FC Utrecht.

His fine performances made him an integral part of Swansea's survival and saw him pick up three end of season accolades for the Welsh outfit.

The Dutch international is set to be out until Christmas but he has said his condition is steadily improving.

"My rehabilitation is going well. I couldn't walk normally last week, but now I'm ok and the bruise is slowly going," said the Dutch 'keeper.

"I've been doing a lot of work in the gym to keep my strength up and the blood flowing.

"I'm determined to heal quickly and strongly. I'm desperate to come back, but I know I can't rush it. I'd rather be one week later than a week too early and it goes again.

"I had been having a slight problem with my groin for a few weeks before the Man City game. It was only a small problem which I was having treatment for. It was just an itchy, nagging feeling.

"Then I dived for Tevez's shot, which was some strike right in the corner, and I could feel my groin go straight away. There was a lot of pain and I knew it was not good. It turned out to be a bad one, but it still could have been worse.''

Vorm believes that his replacement, Gerhard Tremmel, is more than capable of helping his side pick up precious Premier League points.

"Gerhard is a solid, experienced goalkeeper. He may not have played many games for the club, but he knows what it's all about, which is important," said Vorm.

"He's played a lot of top level games in Germany and Austria over the years.

"If we had to go with someone with no experience it would have been difficult. He wouldn't know what to expect in the Premier League."

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.

onfirmed. Nick Miller is a douche bag. Lazy, incoherent rant is what this article should be titled. And for the editor to have the temerity to pass this as acceptable writing is shocking. Ah well, anything for clicks right? You got mine. Well done. Your mother must be proud.
