Michael Laudrup: Hoping Swansea can hit 50 points in the league

Laudrup led the Swans to League Cup glory on Sunday when they thrashed Bradford 5-0 at Wembley to lift the club's first major trophy.

The Welsh side will now turn their attention back to their league campaign, where they currently sit ninth in the table and three points short of the 40-point mark widely considered a safety barrier with 11 games remaining.

Laudrup knows his side still have work to do, with a visit of resurgent Newcastle looming on Saturday, and believes the Swans should be aiming high after their cup win.

"It's normal that for a couple of days everybody will be enjoying it, partying," he told Sky Sports.

"But there's always tomorrow and there's always the next game.

"Even if we want to or not, we've got Newcastle on Saturday. We still need points in the Premiership to get above the 40 points.

"I still think, with 11 games to go, we can aim even higher and try and go for 50 points. We're ninth in the table and, more or less, we'd like to remain there come the end of the season."

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
