The 25-year-old, who signed from Vitesse Arnhemen in the summer, has scored an impressive 16 goals in 30 games, a period when Swansea have been missing key players.

The Ivory Coast international said that missing pre-season through injury was testing for him as it left him feeling off the pace, but he now feels that the work he did in the gym has started to pay off as he is now on a run of scoring five goals in six matches.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Bony said: "It is the work that I did - in training and also outside it. I've been doing personal training and it is going well. I try to do my best and give 100 per cent, maybe more. I've been working on my condition.

"I missed pre-season, it was very hard for me. It's been important for me to keep fit. I have had a lot of problems with my shoulder, my ribs, my hamstring.

"It was very difficult for me. But I've done what I need to give me the power and small sprints. Now I hope I will not get any problems until the end of the season."

Bony scored twice in Saturday's FA Cup victory over Birmingham and is now hoping to help Swansea end their poor run of Premier League form when they tackle Fulham on Tuesday evening.

He added: "That is my character, I try to push my team even if I see it is not going well. It's really important to win because it gives us confidence, we have a game on Tuesday and are at home.

"We will do our best to do better and try to win. The team spirit after the victory, it's good and we hope we will bring it to the next game."
