Try and visit stadiums in Eastern Europe and see where the real deal is. Grey mid-60's structures, low attendance, but most of the fans are cool right wingers. Cheers from Bulgaria

Talking of the San Siro being left out. Matt is completely ignoring the forums favourites photo of Rui Costa and Materazzi. Nothing quite like it when the fans start leaving off the flares. http://blogs.reuters.com/soccer/files/2008/09/rtr1b7ym1derby.jpg http://farm1.staticflickr.com/32/63938147_a37859b775_z.jpg

Craven Cottage? Theres a neutral stand! The Emirites would be a nice place to watch a concert but its not a football ground

Putting the Santiago Bernabeu in front of the Camp Nou is typical English-centric BS. The Bernabeu might be a more raucous atmosphere, but if you understood Spanish you'd realize it's only because the half-brained idiots that fill it are constantly chanting disgusting things about Barça even when they aren't playing them. It's a bloke's stadium. I've been to lots of stadiums in Europe, and the Camp Nou is one of the most culture-rich stadiums you'll ever come across... but because it's filled with more women and children, every foreigner that comes there thinks it's not any fun because they aren't able to act like an idiot.

chubbs83 - couldn't agree more, mate. From the moment I saw the intro on the home page ('OUR favourite stadia' - written by Matt Stanger), I knew there was something not quite right. Perhaps a more appropriate title would have been 'F365's list of stadia that everyone has heard are quite exciting to go and visit'. Nou Camp is rubbish. Huge, I'll grant you, but very disappointing on the whole. I get more of a buzz going to the Boleyn Ground myself, especially for an evening fixture. A visceral experience, and some absolutely blinding curries too. And quite like it when Loftus Road is rocking.

By its very nature this list has to be biased towards the author has been to, or at least read lots about. Note glaring omissions of italian grounds, not to mention some of the big Portuguese teams. I'd even say that france is underestimated in the list. Nothing beats an evening game at parc des princes. The steep stands, totalitarian architecture, the beautiful girls who take you to your seat. It's clear the author has never been to these wonderful grounds, and would rather let us all know about his jolly wee gap year to south america

There are two UEFA Elite Stadia is Scotland. One is Hampden Park. Here's a hint as to the other ... it's not in Glasgow's East End.

Obviously Anfield is the best, because Liverpool play there! OK, I'll try to be impartial and name 2 that I've been lucky enough to attend when jam-packed. San Mames (Bilbao) and Azteca (Mexico City). Both glorious stadiums, both filled with fanatical support. If you haven't been - GO!

@jimmy two times...Totally agree, it's the Camp Nou is more akin to a theatre audience. Clapping rather than chanting. Maybe because they are so used to winning, the crowd just got used to it and so were more Blasé about it all. When I went they only got excited in the last 10 min as they were cruising, but Sociedad scored to make it 2-1. Ronaldinho free kick settled the matter. Was still unimpressed by the crowd (definitely not the football). Although, was impressed that people were smoking weed on the terraces...ooohhhh
