Toby Alderweireld: Drawing admiring glances from the Premier League

The reigning Eredivisie champions are reluctant to see another product of their famed academy system head for the exits midway through the season.

Ajax will not stand in the 23-year-old midfielder's way if he opts to take on a new challenge further down the line, but believe he would benefit from seeing out the 2012/13 campaign in Holland.

Coach Frank de Boer has made it clear that any club planning to make a winter move will have to dig deep in order to push a deal through.

He does not see Spurs or Newcastle United, who have also been linked, stumping up the cash and feels the Premier League will have to wait a little longer before adding yet another talented Belgium international to its ranks.

On the transfer rumours, De Boer said: "That's maybe something for next year.

"I think he'll end this season at Ajax.

"We're very happy with him and don't want to let him go in the winter unless it's a super transfer fee, but I don't think that will happen."
