Kyle Naughton: Has made 15 appearances this season in all competitions

The left-back has made 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season after taking advantage of the injury problems suffered by Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

And Naughton, who since first joining Spurs in 2009 has been loaned to Middlesbrough, Leicester City and Norwich City, thinks he has earned respect.

Andre Villas-Boas only took over at the beginning of the season but appears to trust Naughton as an established defender.

"I have had to be patient here at Spurs, it's taken a few years to get a run in the side," said Naughton on Tottenham's official website.

"But the gaffer seems to like the way I play, he's giving me a chance and it's up to me now to take it. I've played a few games lately and it's great to get consecutive matches.

"I've been pleased with my performances but the main thing for me is that the team got the points over the busy festive period.

"Hopefully we can keep doing well and I can stay in the team for a few more games."
