AVB: No new striker for Spurs

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that the club are unlikely to buy a striker before the transfer window closes.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Barcelona striker David Villa, but the Portuguese manager laughed off such rumours.

Villas-Boas also stated that he did not expect any players to leave before the transfer window closes on Thursday evening.

"David Villa? No, I don't think so!" Villas-Boas told Sky Sports after the 1-1 draw with Norwich.

"At the moment I have told you that we are willing to take a risk on Jermain Defoe's injury. Defoe played 90 minutes and played very well.

"No, I don't think so [there will be any players leaving]."

Villas-Boas was speaking after his side's draw with Norwich at Carrow Road, a result which the manager conceded was fair result.

"During the second half we put on a show, and showed great character," he added.

"It's a pity that we didn't have time to go 2-1 up because we created a number of opportunities.

"Given what Norwich did in the first half and we did in the second, perhaps a draw is a fair result."

Spurs remain in fourth place and lose no ground on Chelsea, but Everton's victory over West Brom closes the gap to Villas-Boas' men.
