After eight years on the books at White Hart Lane, the 26-year-old midfielder took the decision to start afresh when the Tigers came calling over the summer.

Nailing down a regular role had been an issue throughout his time in north London, but Steve Bruce was prepared to offer him the opportunities he craves.

Huddlestone, who has been capped on four occasions by England, jumped at the chance to try his luck at the KC Stadium and has no regrets at having turned his back on top-four hopefuls Spurs.

He told the Daily Star: "Steve Bruce told me what he wanted from me and that I would be one of the focal points in the team. That was the main reason I signed.

"That was a confidence boost really and I want to repay the faith that the chairman and manager have shown in me.

"He told me he wanted the team to play football, he didn't want us to lump it like some promoted teams do. As he said, if he was going to do that, it would be pointless signing me.

"He wanted all the play to come through midfield, which will benefit me personally and hopefully if I play well the team will play well."

Asked if he has any ill-feeling towards Andre Villas-Boas for freezing him out at Tottenham, Huddlestone added: "None at all. I still had two years left on my contract so if I wanted to stay, I could have done.

"But I wouldn't have played as much as I would have liked. I chose to leave.

"I went there as a young boy from Derby and left with a lot of experience. I also managed to get four England caps, so I'm very grateful for my time there."

m only commenting on this (I don't care about Liverpool) because F365's twitter said I had call Matt Stanger a tw*t (which I don't agree with anyway) but I just wanted to be the first. Am I the first?

unday, Sunday. Will there be a fan of either team, who if they are winning after 80 mins, won't still be nervous? This could be anything from 0-0 to 5-5, and no one would bat an eye.
