De Boer claims that he turned down the chance to manage Tottenham in December after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked by the club.

And the former Holland international says that he simply thought that it was the wrong time to leave Ajax.

He said: "Tottenham called my manager after they sacked Villas-Boas [to say]: 'Is it a possibility?'

"I said no because it was not the right moment in the middle of the season. In the future I think I can be manager of a club like Tottenham or Liverpool.

"I think of the history of the clubs and what you can do with the team in the environment of those clubs. It would be my cup of tea, as the expression goes."

The former Holland international insists he remains happy at Ajax, telling World Football programme on the BBC World Service: "I don't think I'm finished here but there will come a time when I don't like it any more or the club doesn't like it any more and then we will have to go [our separate] ways.

"But I'm not in a hurry to leave because everybody is still happy with me. I step in the car with a big smile when I go to work and that's very important for me."

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.

onfirmed. Nick Miller is a douche bag. Lazy, incoherent rant is what this article should be titled. And for the editor to have the temerity to pass this as acceptable writing is shocking. Ah well, anything for clicks right? You got mine. Well done. Your mother must be proud.
