Denmark international Eriksen was one of a raft of new signings at White Hart Lane last summer after joining from Ajax.

He was initially in and out of the team under Andre Villas-Boas before the Portuguese left Spurs in December to be replaced by Sherwood.

Eriksen has been a key performer during Sherwood's tenure and he is happy to be playing for the former Spurs midfielder.

"I was glad because he put my name on the team-sheet right away," Eriksen told The Sun Sunday.

"I enjoy working with him and you can see he's a big Spurs man.

"First you're at a new club and then suddenly after a couple of months you've got a new coach. That is difficult for people but I haven't had any problems."

Eriksen also had praise for his former Ajax coach Frank de Boer, who has been linked with the Tottenham manager's job in the past.

He added: "On a professional level, De Boer is the coach who has had the biggest influence on me.

"He understood me very well. He gave me the responsibility to play my own game, to get involved, to get the ball and show my talent.

"I only had good years with him so I don't have anything bad to say."

Meanwhile, Eriksen's team-mate Gylfi Sigurdsson has acknowledged that Sherwood was right to criticise the players following last week's 4-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Sigurdsson told The People: "He was probably right to say what he did because it has happened too many times. It is down to us to give a good reaction and show that we are hungry.

"It hurts but it is down to us to prove that we are not gutless and that we do care about the club. The manager was within his rights to say what he did.

"As long as you have a manager who cares about the team and the players then you will be fine.

"We need to show we want to win trophies or Champions League football for the club."
