Sherwood's comments came after the north London club sealed their place in next season's Europa League in emphatic fashion with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

They took advantage before the break thanks to Paulinho, an own goal from Nathan Baker and an Emmanuel Adebayor penalty to ensure a sixth-place finish and guarantee a place in Europe's second tier club competition.

The Spurs manager, who only replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December, is widely expected to be dismissed in the close-season following weeks of speculation linking the likes of Ajax's Frank de Boer and Southampton's Mauricio Pochettino with the job.

And following the game, Sherwood told Sky Sports: "No, as I said previously I need to speak to the chairman (Daniel Levy) now that the season is out of the way.

"Myself, Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand stepped up from the development team to come into the position to take over the first-team and overall we're happy with what we've done.

"We're not sure if we could have done any more to be honest.

"It'll be nice (to get the situation) clarified and then we can look to pre-season and targets for next season as well. You need to get to work on those targets.

"There's no point in me giving those targets and someone else would have a different opinion.

"It's been a great learning curve for me. I've tried to do as best I can and preparing the team every week to win games.

"The one thing I have learned about football - it's all about winning. And if you win it covers up a multitude of sins. It's totally about winning - it's an impulsive game.

"People who don't know the game make impulsive decisions and that's what they continue to do unfortunately."

There is an absolute Spurs legend with the initals "J.K." that won almost everything internationally and domestically, who commands respect from the football world, has proved to be a great manager and has a great rapport with some of the top names in the sport. He will be available pre-season...now's the time to get him in.
