Michael Smith: Loan extension

Charlton striker Michael Smith has extended his loan spell at Newport County until January.

The 21-year-old has already scored three goals in four starts for the Exiles, who are currently top of the Blue Square Bet Premier League.

Smith spent time on loan at Accrington in League Two last season and scored a hat-trick against Gillingham before his spell in Lancashire was cut short due to injury.

He has made one start for Charlton this year, in the Capital One Cup defeat by Leyton Orient in August.

The former Darlington frontman's stint at County will come to and end after an all-Welsh clash against Wrexham on Friday, January 4.
