Michael Laudrup: On the look out for som

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed the club intends to strengthen in January while also keeping hold of key players.

The Welsh side are enjoying another impressive campaign in the Premier League so far, sitting seventh in the table and unbeaten in six games.

Some of their stars, such as Spanish midfield ace Michu, are attracting interest from other clubs as the winter transfer window approaches but Jenkins says they do not want to let go of important players.

The chairman says manager Michael Laudrup will instead make new additions to his squad to lift Swansea going into the second half of the season.

"We'll be looking to strengthen in January, not to weaken our squad,' said Jenkins. "We'll make every attempt to make sure that happens.

"Michael's after one or two players in all areas - a forward, midfield player and a defender.

"At this level of football they've got to be 100 per cent ready. While it's great signing players with promise, everybody expects results week in week out."

Swansea caused upset at Emirates Stadium last weekend when they sprung a surprise 2-0 win over Arsenal, with Michu netting two late goals.

That brace took the 26-year-old's tally this season to 11 in all competitions after he arrived for £2million from Rayo Vallecano in the summer.

Jenkins added: "We felt we had him at good value and with his goalscoring it's proved to be a good decision. We're very pleased with that one."
