Bacary Sagna: Wants to play a role in Ar

Bacary Sagna insists he is happy at Arsenal following speculation that he could be the next high-profile player to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Sagna is reported to be dismayed by the terms of the 12-month contract extension he has been offered, seeking an improvement on his £60,000-a-week wages and a longer deal.

The 29-year-old is adamant he wants to play a full role in Arsenal's season after seeing his career stall because of two broken legs over the past year.

"I'm very happy. I'm very happy to be back to football and to play for Arsenal," he told Arsenal Player.

"I'm looking forward to playing more games this season because I've been injured lately."

Sagna is one of four players who will miss Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with West Brom because of injury.

The France right-back has a foot problem, while Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny have been lost to hamstring, calf and thigh ailments.

Arsenal's busy treatment room is a major setback as manager Arsene Wenger plots an end to the club's worst start to a Premier League season which has left them 10th in the table, five points off fourth place.

The Gunners have at least qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League and Sagna believes their league form will also soon improve.

"It's a bit difficult at the moment because we wish we could win some games," Sagna added. "It's a tough month but we just need to stick together and get back to the basics and everything will be fine.

"We have quality players and a quality team. The fans support us until the end so we just have to push and try to win games."
