McCall: Doesn't want to lose too man

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall only expects to lose one player during the January transfer window but is not sure who that player will be.

The Fir Park side turned in a dazzling display to defeat Aberdeen 4-1, with a host of impressive performances.

Tom Hateley headed home Jamie Murphy's cross after 10 minutes to give McCall's side the lead against the run of play.

The hosts again punished Aberdeen's failure to take their chances as Murphy doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark, but Jonny Hayes reduced the deficit just minutes later.

Murphy notched his 10th goal of the season on the stroke of half-time to provide a timely boost for the Steelmen and Michael Higdon added a fourth 10 minutes into the second half.

"The scouts might have come looking at certain individuals, but will have gone away with five or six names," said McCall.

"I expect to lose one, but no more than one, during January."

Man of the match Henrik Ojamaa has been linked with a move to Polish side Lech Poznan.

The Estonia international has 18 months remaining on his deal at Motherwell and McCall feels he would be wise to hang around for a little longer.

"I know he has been linked with the Polish club, but he has 18 months left of his contract with us and I have told him that, if he keeps playing like that, clubs at the highest level in England will be looking at him," McCall added.

"His performance against Aberdeen was probably his sharpest since arriving at the club.

"He has only managed one goal this season, however his performances have been very good."

Gavin Rae was puzzled by Aberdeen's below-par showing at Fir Park.

The Dons visited Lanarkshire hoping to draw level on points with their hosts in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, but passed up numerous good chances during the match.

"It's weird how we can play so well at the weekend and then not play so well here," said Rae.

"It was a game where there could have been lots of goals for both teams.

"The result is massively disappointing, especially after we started the game so well - we have missed unbelievable chances."
