Shebby Singh: Would not comment on Kevin

Shebby Singh says he has no regrets about giving Henning Berg the Blackburn job.

Rovers pulled the plug on Berg's reign just 57 days and 10 matches in, vindicating supporters who had criticised the appointment of such an inexperienced manager.

But as Sky Bet cut Kevin MacDonald - another untried boss - to 1/3 for the job, the club's global advisor Shebby Singh responded to his critics on Sky Sports News.

He said: "I think we are always smarter after something happens. There are many people out there who are very, very clever but they are not in a position like me to make decisions.

"I have to be strong for the club. Sometimes you make the right decisions but things don't work for you. To all the clever people out there, good luck.

"I don't regret getting Henning here, my only regret is that it didn't work out the way we would have liked it to.

"I'm very sad, but this is football, the club is more important than me, more important than Henning."

Respected coach MacDonald, whose only significant experience as a manager came during a caretaker spell at Aston Villa, is now odds-on favourite to replace Berg.

Singh - pressed on whether he was looking for a more battle-hardened boss - said: "It all depends how you term experience. There will always be rumour and speculation in football - that's what it thrives on."
