Owen: Offered by agent

Owen: Offered by agent

The 33-year-old former England international joined Stoke on a one-year contract in September after he was released by Manchester United in the summer.

Owen has, however, yet to make a league start for the Potters as injury and the form of his team-mates has restricted his involvement.

A Perth Glory spokesman has claimed that Owen has been touted to the A-League club - who earlier this season also claimed they wanted to sign David Beckham - but any potential move was still some way off.

"Michael Owen's agent has enquired about Michael playing in the A-League," the spokesman told the West Australian newspaper.

"Perth Glory are interested but are yet to find out Michael's terms and conditions.

"Until these are known, Perth Glory will not enter any further negotiations."

Owen's former England team-mate Emile Heskey moved the the A-League at the start of the season after agreeing a one-year contract with the Newcastle Jets.

Heskey, who has scored seven goal in 14 games, was joined Down Under by legendary former Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero after he agreed a two-year deal with Sydney FC.

Football Federation Australia also claimed in November that they had been approached by agents working on behalf of Beckham about the prospect of a short-term move.

Those claims were quickly rubbished by Beckham despite the former England captain later calling time on his five-year stay at Los Angeles Galaxy to seek a new club.

Perth Glory, who lost last year's A-League grand final, are looking to fill an international player position in their squad - which does not come under the A-League's salary cap - with former St Mirren striker Billy Mehmet to join Thai club Bangkok Glass.
