Fellaini: Linked with a move from Everto

Everton boss David Moyes has responded to speculation about Toffees midfielder Marouane Fellaini by reiterating he is not looking to sell players in the current transfer window.

Fellaini, a stand-out performer for the Merseyside outfit this season, has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with reports suggesting there is a £22million buyout clause in the 25-year-old Belgium international's contract which several major clubs could be looking to trigger.

But when questioned about that this afternoon, Moyes - speaking ahead of his side's Barclays Premier League home clash with Swansea on Saturday - said: "The plan is to keep all of our players.

"I wouldn't be talking about anyone's contracts if I can help it, and I won't do it now."

Regarding potential incoming personnel, Moyes added: "We are trying - we will look around and see what we will get."

One midfielder who is certainly remaining with Everton for the time being is Thomas Hitzlsperger, with Moyes today confirming the 30-year-old would be extending his stay at the club until the end of the season.

Hitzlsperger, having been a free agent since leaving Wolfsburg last summer, signed a short-term contract with the Toffees in October that saw him through to this month.

The former Aston Villa, West Ham and Germany player has made seven appearances for Everton so far and asked about Hitzlsperger's future today, Moyes said: "We have decided to keep him on. Thomas is going to stay until the end of the season.

"He has played a few games for us now, and he has been around the block a few times. He knows exactly what is required."

It was also announced today that 19-year-old Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has joined npower Championship club Leeds for an initial one-month loan stint.

It is a move Moyes feels is important for the youngster's continued development, and one he stressed has been made viable for the Toffees by the retention of Hitzlsperger.

"Thomas wants to play, like everybody else," Moyes said.

"We've needed him and we will continue to need him with the games we have got in the second half of the season.

"I was thinking about letting Ross go out on loan and Thomas' experience allowed me to do that. I just felt that keeping him was important."

Barkley has already spent a spell on loan with another Championship side, Sheffield Wednesday, this term.

Everton, currently fifth in the Premier League table, head into tomorrow's contest with there being little sign of their impressive form in 2012-13 letting up.

The Toffees have won three of their last four top-flight fixtures and suffered defeat only three times in the league all season.

They also have a good record against Swansea, triumphing in their previous three meetings with the Welsh side.

The Swans - ninth in the league and 2-0 up against Chelsea after the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final - are having a fine campaign themselves, though, and Moyes is anticipating a demanding assignment tomorrow.

"I've been very impressed with Swansea since the start of the season," Moyes said.

"They have got off to a great start. You take every game individually, no matter what has happened (in meetings) in the past.

"It is a tough game against Swansea - they have had some really good results."

Everton full-back Leighton Baines has been nursing an ankle problem and Moyes says he is monitoring the England international's condition but expects him to be fit for the Swansea match.
