Esmael Goncalves: St Mirren loan spell f

St Mirren have signed striker Esmael Goncalves on loan from Portuguese side Rio Ave, subject to international clearance.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Guinea-Bassau but is a Portuguese national, had a spell on loan with Nice last season and had the option of returning to France.

However he has decided to try his luck in Scotland and could make his debut for St Mirren in Sunday's Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final tie against Celtic.

St Mirren have also revealed that Legia Warsaw striker Patryk Mikita has returned to Poland after a week-long trial.

Buddies manager Danny Lennon was hoping to extend the 19-year-old's trial period by another week but Legia Warsaw declined the request.
