Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov wants to return to Italy to play in Serie A.
Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov admits a return to Italy appeals to him.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has insisted the full meaning of an open letter from Fabricio Coloccini to Argentinian club San Lorenzo may have been lost in translation.
The letter emerged over the weekend after Pardew had confirmed on Friday that his 31-year-old captain, who had asked to leave the club this month because of personal problems, would be remaining on Tyneside until the end of the season at least.
In it, Coloccini expressed his regret that a move to his hometown club could not be agreed, and suggested he could yet return to South America in the near future.
However Pardew, who will include the defender in his squad for Tuesday night's vital Barclays Premier League trip to Aston Villa, said: "When you interpret one language from another, while the words can look the same, the interpretation can be slightly different and I think the interpretation of that was slightly lost, if I'm honest.
"It's his home-town club, of course, and he's got friends and family there, and I think he just wanted to say, 'Thanks for your offer of help if I needed it'.
"Unfortunately for them, it hasn't happened; fortunately for us, he remains our captain and committed to the cause, make no mistake about that."
