Mousa Dembele would be prepared to help Tottenham Hotspur through a striking crisis by providing attacking cover.
Spurs saw Jermain Defoe pick up an untimely ankle injury during last week's 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, leaving them alarmingly short on options.
They head into Saturday's home date with Newcastle with just one senior striker in contention, with Emmauel Adebayor set to be thrust straight back into Premier League action after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The situation is far from ideal, with the transfer window closed until the summer, but Belgium playmaker Dembele's versatility could come in handy.
Asked if he would be prepared to move up the field, Dembele said: "Of course, if the manager thinks that is the best option, why not?"
On the loss of Defoe, he added: "It's obvious that he's a very important player for us, he's scored a lot of important goals for us and has the character as well.
"He's very important in our team so it's not very easy for us right now."
Another of those who could be deployed in a support role just behind Adebayor is January signing Lewis Holtby, a man who has made quite an impression during his short time at White Hart Lane.
On the Germany international, Dembele said: "In the last two games that he has come in he has done very well."
