Watford: Have brought in 11 players on t

Clubs will vote on making changes to the current loan system in place at their summer AGM, a Football League spokesman has confirmed to Press Association Sport.

The rules which currently dictate loan signings in the Football League have come under scrutiny since Watford brought in 11 players on temporary deals to help their promotion push.

The Hornets are third in the npower Championship after fully utilising owner Gino Pozzo's stakes in Udinese and Granada to flood their squad with loan signings.

The current rules do not place a limit on the number of loan signings a club can make but restrict a matchday squad to containing only five on-loan players.

But the restriction does not encompass internationally-capped players so Watford are free to select the likes of Joel Ekstrand, Almen Abdi, Matej Vydra and Daniel Pudil, amongst others, who have all been capped by their respective nations.

The AGM in the summer will address other issues but the most high-profile vote will relate to the loan system, with the hope of international players falling under the same restrictions and being included in the five on-loan individuals permitted in a matchday squad.
