Eamonn Dolan: Reading's caretaker ma

Reading caretaker boss Eamonn Dolan remains unsure about whether or not his period in charge of the first team will extend to their next game - but is certain he wants to stay with the club.

Dolan, head of the Royals' academy, is looking after the senior side following the sacking of manager Brian McDermott last week, with his first game at the helm resulting in a 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at Manchester United on Saturday.

The next fixture for Reading - who are 19th in the table, seven points adrift of safety - is a trip to Arsenal on March 30.

And while Dolan does not know if a new manager will be brought in by then, he certainly wants to be working for the Berkshire outfit in some capacity.

"I don't know about Arsenal, we haven't discussed it and wouldn't," Dolan said on readingchronicle.co.uk.

"Anton (Zingarevich, the Reading owner) has been fantastic with me and let me get on with it.

"I talked to him the first couple of days and he popped me a text before (the United match).

"They are thinking and talking and they will be pleased with the way things have gone (in the build-up to the United game).

"It's been a really difficult week - for us to put in a performance like that considering the players' relationship to Brian is a credit to them and a credit to all the staff.

"I want to stay at Reading Football Club definitely as some sort of manager, academy or whatever."
