Jose Mourinho: Remains coy on future

Jose Mourinho brushed aside questions about his long-term future at Real Madrid ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final clash with Galatasaray, insisting the focus should be the team's on-field ambitions over the coming months.

Mourinho has been the subject of almost daily speculation about whether he will be at Madrid next season or if this will be his third and final campaign with the Spanish giants.

The Portuguese, who has a contract with Madrid until 2016, was again quizzed about his plans on Wednesday but the 50-year-old said the only thing that mattered was finishing the season as well as they can.

"I'm not important. The important thing is the results for Real Madrid, not me or my future," he said.

"I only want to help the club fulfil their objectives."

Madrid's Primera Division title defence already looks to be over as they trail leaders Barcelona by 13 points, but they have already won the Spanish Supercopa this season and are still in contention for two more trophies.

"We have two objectives, the Copa del Rey and Champions League, because the Supercopa is too small a goal to sustain a club like Madrid and we have to finish as well as possible," Mourinho added.

"At the end the season we'll see what could happen, but the most important thing is the club."

Madrid have already secured their place in the Copa del Rey final, where they will play rivals Atletico in May, and they will now be hoping to repeat that success in the Champions League as they look for a record 10th European title.

On Wednesday they host Galatasaray at the Bernabeu in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
