Mario Gomez: Continues to be linked with

Reports had suggested that the Viola had moved to the front of the queue in the race to sign the experienced Germany international, only for his representative to rubbish the rumours.

Gomez is being heavily linked with a move away from Bayern after slipping behind Mario Mandzukic in the Allianz Arena pecking order.

Fiorentina have been vocal in their pursuit of his services, but they are by no means the only club to have expressed an interest.

Manchester City are also rumoured to be weighing up an approach, as they look to cover the loss of Carlos Tevez to Juventus.

Fiorentina are, however, prepared to continue with their chase, with it the opinion of chief executive Sandro Mencucci that Gomez is keen on a move to Florence.

"It's clear that Mario Gomez is one of the players that we are interested in," he told Gazzetta.it.

"I can also say that he considers Fiorentina to be one of the clubs he would think about joining if he decides to change clubs."
