Angelo Ogbonna: A wanted man

Torino director of sport Gianluca Petrachi has reminded Juventus they face real competition from other clubs in the race to sign in-demand defender Angelo Ogbonna.

The Serie A champions have made no secret of their pursuit of Italy international Ogbonna, 25, who played a key role as promoted Torino booked a second season in the top flight.

Juve director general Giuseppe Marotta this week confirmed Ogbonna was a serious target but Petrachi today warned the Bianconeri to firm up their interest before a rival club submits an offer for the centre-back.

He told La Repubblica Sport: "Juve have made big steps forward, but something has gone wrong along the way.

"Are the Bianconeri still the favourites (to sign him) regardless? I don't know, he could end up going to one of the clubs that have showed interest in him before.

"Ogbonna is a coveted player because central defenders are highly prized in Italy, but it's not been confirmed that he even has to leave at all.

"Torino are not obliged to sell him. As long as there is no agreement, we are free to talk to other clubs about him."

Ogbonna, who is reportedly valued at 15million euros by his club, received his first Italy call-up in June 2011 while Torino were still competing in Serie B. He made his senior debut against Poland in November 2011 and has since made five further appearances for the Azzurri.
