Steven N'Zonzi: Wants to leave Stoke

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has insisted that midfielder Steven N'Zonzi will not be leaving the club, despite the Frenchman handing in a transfer request.

N'Zonzi made his desire to leave the Britannia Stadium official earlier this summer, amidst reports that he would like a move to a bigger club.

However, with the midfielder still having three years left on his current contract, Hughes is adamant that a player of N'Zonzi's quality will not be allowed to leave the club.

Hughes was speaking after N'Zonzi had played 45 minutes of Stoke's friendly victory over Wrexham.

"It was the plan to give him 45 here because Steven had more game time in America," Hughes told The Sentinel.

"He's fine now and he isn't going anywhere."

N'Zonzi started 35 Premier League games for Stoke last season, his only goal coming in the home defeat to Spurs in May.
