Chris Coleman: Among the favourites for

Three weeks on from Ian Holloway's disheartened departure and with supposed candidates opting to head elsewhere, the question remains at Crystal Palace: who will take on the mission impossible?

The Eagles are as short at 1/20 for the drop following one win from their first 11 Premier League games, with the probability of adding a relegation to the CV not proving popular.

Aitor Karanka was the odds-on favourite for the post before taking over Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough, while Rene Meulensteen, who has been as short as 11/10 for the post, has now been appointed as head coach at Fulham.

Sky Bet explain who the new favourites are for the vacant position at Selhurst Park.

Dan Petrescu - 5/4

The former Chelsea and Romania defender has emerged as the new favourite amid media reports he has already held talks with Palace co-chairman Steve Parish. The 45-year-old has collated some decent success stories of propelling some of the game's lesser known sides onto the European stage, having led the Unirea Urziceni into the Champions League with their first Romanian league title before enjoying promotion to the Russian top flight with Kuban Krasnodar. Petrescu is currently in charge of Dinamo Moscow, who sit fifth in the Russian Premier League.

Chris Coleman - 6/1

The Wales manager spent four seasons with the Eagles during his playing days, enduring a relegation during that spell. Speculation has surrounded whether the former defender would leave his current post, but current reports suggest he is now set to sign a new deal. Coleman's contract comes to an end after their friendly against Finland and he cancelled his press conference last Friday.

Karl Robinson - 12/1

The 33-year-old has impressed during his solitary managerial role at MK Dons, leading them into the play-offs during his first two seasons in charge of the Sky Bet League 1 side. Robinson is thought to have rebuffed various offers since becoming the youngest ever manager of a Football League club in 2010.

Tony Pulis - 16/1

The former Stoke manager has attracted the most money in the market, having started as favourite, but is now rated an outsider for the job. Pulis has revealed he has already turned down various jobs and seems to be waiting for the right opportunity, which does not appear to be the case with the languishing Eagles.

Alan Pardew - 16/1

By far the strangest inclusion on the list, the current Newcastle boss is currently buzzing off the back of victories over Chelsea and Tottenham. The appointment of Joe Kinnear had raised doubts over his future at the club but the 52-year-old has shown no signs of jumping ship. Pardew spent four seasons with Palace during his playing days while the run of bets, which are predominantly small stakes, have presumably been prompted by tabloid reports suggesting he is on their shortlist.

Keith Millen - 20/1

The current caretaker boss only holds previous managerial experience with Bristol City, having been appointed on the back of another interim stint. After enduring two defeats since stepping in for Holloway, Millen oversaw a creditable 0-0 draw against Everton at the weekend. The 47-year-old has hardly endorsed himself by stating that the job requires somebody with Premier League experience, hence his hefty odds.
