Dick Advocaat has rejected the opportunity to become permanent head coach at Sunderland.
Veteran defender Richard Dunne has earned a new one-year contract at QPR.
The 34-year-old joined Rangers from Aston Villa last summer after a year out through injury and has made 37 appearances this term to trigger a new deal.
Now with the Hoops looking destined for a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs, Dunne knows his season is far from over.
"I am delighted. After missing a year through injury, to come back and play so many games is great," Dunne told Rangers' official website.
"There is naturally always that worry that the injury may go again, so to play as regularly as I have has been brilliant. If we can kick on now and finish on a high, that would be the ultimate end to the season.
"The aim from the start of this season was to win promotion to the Premier League and that remains the case. That's all we're concentrating on at the moment."
