Billy Jones: Happy to put deal talks on

Billy Jones: Happy to put deal talks on

Jones joined Albion from Preston in June 2011, signing a three-year contract at The Hawthorns.

The 27-year-old can play in both full-back positions, but prefers right-back and has made 21 Premier League appearances this season due to competition from experienced defender Steven Reid.

Jones has held talks with the club but the two parties have yet to reach an agreement, opening up the possibility that he could become a free agent this summer.

But the former Crewe defender is happy to wait until the 2013-14 campaign has been completed, with Albion still fighting for their Premier League survival with three games remaining.

The Baggies pulled four points clear of the relegation zone after securing a 1-0 home over West Ham on Saturday and face Arsenal, Sunderland and Stoke in their run-in.

Jones told the Express & Star: "It's the same as it was. It's just about waiting until the summer now and making sure we get safe and everyone is concentrating on that.

"I'm just concentrating on staying up with Albion and going from there."

Jones insists Pepe Mel's troops will be looking to take something from Super Sunday's trip to The Emirates, having 'done well against the bigger clubs' this season.

Albion held Arsene Wenger's Gunners to 1-1 draws in the Premier League and Capital One Cup this season.

Jones added: "We've got three big games and we feel, if we turn up as an XI, we can win any game.

"We’ve got a few more winnable games and we’ll see where it takes us.

"We've done well against the bigger clubs and we always feel we can do well in games where you have to be at it as an XI.

"Maybe it's a less high-pressure game than West Ham and everyone would expect us to get beaten going to the Emirates but we're confident we’ll have a gameplan and, if we stick with it, we can get something from the game."
