Sean Dyche: Looking to add, but only at

Those in charge at Turf Moor have always kept a close eye on the purse strings, with success achieved through prudent investment.

That will remain the case upon stepping back up into the top flight, even with the welcome injection of funds which accompany promotion.

A budget has been carefully drawn up and manager Sean Dyche will be expected to stick to it as he looks to bolster the ranks at a club that have been open in their need to increase competition for places.

Co-chairman Mike Garlick said in the Lancashire Telegraph: “We have target players, but we also have a target budget and we intend to stick to it.

“The feelers have been put out for targets and we are working hard to bring players in.

“Some things might come off and some things might not.

“A lot of people are away at the moment so it might be the end of the month when things start to come to fruition.

“It might be that not everyone is here for day one, and by day one I mean pre-season rather than the first game of the season.

“We are looking to invest in the right players, but we will stick to our budget.

“You can throw money at it and even then there are no guarantees of staying up.”

While looking to add, Burnley are also determined to ensure that key men are kept on their books.

They have been quick to rubbish reports suggesting that Southampton have made a move for top marksman Danny Ings, and Garlick has reiterated that the 21-year-old is going nowhere.

He added: “We’ve had no enquiries for him.

“Danny is a big part of our plans and as far as we’re concerned, we’re looking forward to him coming back for pre-season. That’s all we’re focused on.

“There will be speculation about him and other players, we know that. But we’re looking forward to him having a big part to play with us again next season.”
