Hugo Almeida: Believes the Bundesliga is

The Bosman-bound forward claimed he would relish playing in the German top-flight again after featuring in Portugal’s 4-0 reverse at the hands of Germany in the FIFA World Cup on Monday.

Almeida has plenty of experience in the division, having netted 41 goals in 117 appearances for Werder Bremen during a four-year spell at the club.

The 30-year-old says the Bundesliga is one of the premier competitions in world football and revealed he would be open to a return.

“Bundesliga 1 is a great European competition, maybe one of the best leagues in the world,” he told Sport1 Media.

“It was great to shine on that stage. I enjoyed it. Maybe I am able to return to Bundesliga 1, maybe I am able to play in the German league again.”

Almeida scored 13 goals for Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig last term, as well as netting twice in the club’s Europa League campaign.
