Jose Maria Basanta: Will decide on futur

Defender Basanta, 30, is currently on the books of Mexican side Monterrey but speculation has suggested that he could soon be on his way to Serie A with Fiorentina.

However, his sole focus at the moment is on international matters with Argentina, who have made it through to a semi-final clash with the Netherlands at the World Cup.

Basanta has made two appearances for his country so far in Brazil and will give no thought to his club career until after the weekend, when Argentina will be involved in either the final against Germany or the third-fourth play-off against the hosts.

“I’ve worked hard to make this dream come true,” Basanta told reporters.

“My future? I’ll decide it with my agent after the World Cup.”
