Maicon: Hopes for a new deal at Roma

The 32-year-old is under contract with the Italian giants until June 2015 but is hopeful to sign a new deal soon.

Maicon moved to Roma last summer from Manchester City and scored two goals in 28 league appearances to help the Giallorossi finish runners-up in Serie A in the 2013-14 campaign.

"We are on the right path and we saw it last season," Maicon said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "I certainly do not want to leave Roma.

"In fact, the first thing I wish to do now that the World Cup is over is to call (Roma sporting director Walter) Sabatini.

"I want to renew (contract) immediately, I have no intention of leaving."

The 32-year-old is currently on holiday having recently competed for Brazil to help them finish fourth at the World Cup.

Maicon has followed Roma's movements in the transfer market and is pleased with the Giallorossi's new additions.

Roma, coached by Rudi Garcia, have signed former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole and ex-Fulham midfielder Urby Emanuelson, both joining the club this month as free agents.

Moreover, Roma have acquired Mali midfielder Seydou Keita from Spanish side Valencia.

Maicon added. "Now it is too early to speak of winning the scudetto but having seen the acquisitions made by the club so far, they all seem very good.

"We shall see."
