SCHOLES TO GET NEW ONE-YEAR DEAL
Apparently Paul Scholes has been as surprised as anyone at how well his return to Manchester United has gone, and has 'hinted' that he would like to stay beyond the end of this season.

The Sun reports that Scholes held an 'informal meeting' with Sir Alex Ferguson in which he discussed his performances, at which 'Fergie revealed statistics from recent games showed Scholes is averaging the same levels as he did 16 months ago.'

Ferguson is apparently keen for Scholes to stick around, and 'confirmed the Old Trafford board has drafted a one-year deal and would love Scholes to play a further season.'

Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror claims Chelsea are keen on bagging Paul Pogba, who is out of contract at the end of the season, but United are still keen to sign him on a fresh deal.

LIVERPOOL WON'T SELL SUAREZ
Plenty of talk around that Liverpool would wash their hands of Luis Suarez, not least from a certain A. Ferguson, but The Liverpool Echo reckons it's all tish and fipsy.

The paper reports that Liverpool have 'no intention' of selling Suarez, despite all the mither his actions have caused them over the past few months.

The Echo claims: 'Although it remains unclear if Suarez will face any club sanctions, it is expected Liverpool will not ostracise the Uruguayan and give him the chance to make up for the sorry episode.'

So that's that then, right?

Right?

UNITED IN FOR KHEDIRA
Manchester United's midfield looks OK at the moment, but it should be remembered they're relying on a 37-year-old who retired last year (more on him in a moment) and Michael Carrick, who you never know when is going to go missing next. And they still don't really have anyone who can tackle.

So the story in The Daily Mail this morning makes a certain degree of sense from their point of view, even if it isn't realistically going to happen.

The paper reports that United are interested in Real Madrid's German midfielder Sami Khedira, who has been 'in and out' of Real's starting line up (indeed, he's only started eight games this season for various reasons), so is a potential target for United.

We can't really see Real selling, but we have very, very occasionally been wrong in the past, so who knows?

Meanwhile, the paper also reports: 'United are also keen on Benfica pair Nicolas Gaitan and Javi Garcia, who is wanted by Liverpool.'

BRING ME THE HEAD OF JAVI GARCIA
Speaking of Garcia, here's his agent to discuss talk of a move for his man.

"There are not and there have never been any concrete offers," Manuel Garcia Quilon told O JOGO.

"But I can tell you that there are several clubs following him very carefully, especially two Premier League clubs. Then there is also one Bundesliga and one Serie club.

"But the player is calm and is now only focused on his work with Benfica and to win titles."

BENTLEY OFF TO THE USA?
David Bentley. Remember him? You'd be forgiven for forgetting he existed, but according to The Sun he wants to 'kickstart his career in America despite getting another chance at Spurs.'

Bentley is back at the Lane after a loan spell at West Ham ended over a knee injury, but according to his agent he might fancy going stateside.

The Sun quotes his agent Rob Segal as saying, about a move to MLS: "This is something that is interesting for David, as it will also get him fit. He would like to go there on loan as soon as possible."

Bentley had been given a squad number at Spurs, but only really because they had nobody else, after Steven Pienaar went to Everton on loan.

HAZARD WARNING OVER WAGES
Meanwhile, elsewhere in The Sun, the paper reports that Spurs will have to pay top dollar for Eden Hazard.

The Belgian flyer said that he might fancy a move to White Hart Lane, and reports in the French media suggested that a deal was close.

However, The Sun claims: 'But he already earns £50,000 a week, so Spurs will need to make him their highest earner above Rafael van der Vaart's £70,000.'
