STURRIDGE ON HIS WAY?
The Sun really are banging the drum labelled 'Daniel Sturridge is on his way out of Chelsea' quite loudly.
They carried a story along those lines on Wednesday, and they go again this morning, reporting that Sturridge is 'concerned about the club's decline on and off the pitch'.
Apparently Sturridge, never a man to underestimate his own abilities, is keen to be playing Champions League football next season, and if Chelsea don't finish in the top four, he'll do one.
The paper quotes a 'pal' as saying: "Daniel will be distraught if Chelsea finish outside the top four - he's desperate to prove himself at the highest level and that means he wants Champions League football, not Europa League."
Sturridge is apparently one of the unhappy players who raised concerns when Roman Abramovich was in town this week, and is still annoyed at not being able to play centre-forward, instead being shoved out onto the wing.
No talk of who might want to sign him, but we imagine there will be a few takers.
AURELIO TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL. AGAIN
We occasionally forget Fabio Aurelio is still at Liverpool.
Glen Johnson seems to be Kenny Dalglish's second-choice left-back, and for assorted reasons the Brazilian has made a grand total of one substitute appearance for the first team this season.
And The Liverpool Echo reckons he'll be on his bike pretty soon. His contract expires at the end of the season, having been re-signed by Woy Hodgson after initially leaving at the end of the 2009/10 season.
The Echo reports that there's been no talk of a new contract, and that: 'The popular Brazilian, who has been dogged by injuries throughout his Reds career, is expected to return to South America to finish his playing days.'
UNITED TO GET A CLOSE LOOK AT ERIKSEN
Now, this is interesting.
Whenver The Gossip Column has seen Ajax's Danish youngster Christian Eriksen play, he's been...how you say...the dog's danglies.
Manchester United have apparently spotted this too, and will of course get a close look at him tonight when United face the Dutch chaps.
And The Manchester Evening News reports that Fergie will ask his players about Eriksen before deciding over a summer move for the midfielder, just as he did with Cristiano Ronaldo a few years back.
The paper reports: 'Ferguson believes Eriksen has the potential to become the long-term successor to Paul Scholes and does not want to lose him to one of United's European rivals.'
'LIVERPOOL TARGET' KAGAWA TO STAY
We don't recall seeing this anywhere, but the SHOUTsport website describes Borussia Dortmund schemer Shinji Kagawa as a 'Liverpool target'.
Frankly, going from the current Bundesliga champions to a side who possibly won't even be in the Champions League would be insane, but that's just our opinion.
And it seems to be an opinion shared by the man himself, who's been quoted in the German press as saying:
"I'm having a terrific time and would be happy if this were to continue. I want to stay," he said. "I feel so good here, why should I go?"
