WALCOTT TO....UNITED?
All the talk on Tuesday was of Arsenal moving for Nani, and now it appears that the Gooners and Manchester United could well be arranging some sort of 'Quite Good But Not As Good As The Money They Are Demanding' winger swap.
The Daily Mail this morning reports that United have 'joined the race' for Theo Walcott.
We'll just let United fans pour a stiff drink there. It's not too early - don't worry.
Apparently Walcott wants to stay at Arsenal, as long as they give him the £100,000 a week he/his agent is after, but if he does leave then United is his preferred destination.
And Fergie is keen too. The Mail reports: 'Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested, but United's keenness, along with Walcott's desire to join the Barclays Premier League leaders looks, looks to have put United in the driving seat.'
Good lord.
WITH STURRIDGE & INCE IN, COLE OUT?
According to The Daily Mirror, the signings for Liverpool of Thomas Ince and Daniel Sturridge are 'almost certain', and pretty early in the January transfer window too.
With that in mind, what of Joe Cole? The Daily Mirror reckons he'll be told to do one, but do one to where?
'Cole has been linked with a return to Upton Park, and rock-bottom QPR, now managed by his old Hammers boss Harry Redknapp, have expressed a quiet interest.
'Yet Cole, who still have two years left on the contract he signed when moving from Chelsea as a free agent in 2010, has insisted he wants to show the Reds support his true potential after two years of disappointment.'
ALEXIS TOO?
Quick line in The Daily Mirror, who report that Liverpool are taking a look at Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez.
Apparently Barca might be willing to sell the Chilean in the summer, although Tito Vilanova doesn't really want to let him go.
And if he is ushered out, then Liverpool have been asked to be 'kept in the loop'.
The Mirror reports: 'Having initially made an enquiry about a loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer, they now have hopes of sealing a straight-cash deal.'
LESCOTT TO BE SOLD?
Interesting line in The Daily Mail, who report that Joleon Lescott might be put in an ejector seat, driven to the outskirts of Manchester and launched into the atmosphere this January.
Or just 'sold by Manchester City', if you prefer something more prosaic.
The paper reports that City are looking at Paris St Germain defender Mamadou Sakho, currently kicking his heels in Paris with Alex and Thiago Silva taking the centre-back spots for the French side.
City may move for Sakho, also wanted by Arsenal, AC Milan and Lillie, should Lescott be sold in January. Sold to who, they do not say.
CHELSEA TO MAKE MIDFIELD MOVE
The Times reports this morning that Chelsea, with Oriel Romeu ruled out until the end of the season with a knacked knee, are looking at their midfield options.
Paulinho, the 'hard-tackling' Corinthians midfielder, is a name mentioned, but the paper also suggests they are considering a move for Chieck Tiote.
Interesting.
On Paulinho, The Times claims: 'The 24-year-old's transfer value will also appeal to Chelsea, as the buyout clause in his contract will drop to £11 million after the conclusion of the tournament in Japan. Chelsea will have to move quickly to complete the deal, however, as the Brazilian has already attracted inquiries from City, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.
'The strong Brazilian presence at Stamford Bridge could count in their favour as Ramires, David Luiz, Oscar and Lucas Piazón and are already at the club.'
