BAD NEWS FOR LIVERPOOL?
Whether this is bad news or not depends on two things; 1) Whether you think Liverpool signing Daniel Sturridge is a good idea or not and 2) Whether you think a hitch mentioned in passing in The Times on Wednesday, but turned into a bigger story by both that paper and The Daily Mail this morning, is worth getting worried about.

Completely your decision on that one. We are but the messengers, the vessel through which you are fed the stone-cold facts reported in our national newspapers. Ish.

Anyway, The Mail reports that Sturridge's move to Liverpool could be in trouble due to an argument over agents fees.

The paper reports: 'Liverpool are stamping down on the money they pay agents after recently published figures showed their outlay since 2008-09 has been a staggering £31.3million - only Chelsea (£31.8m) and Manchester City (£39.02m) have paid more in the same period.'

Apparently Liverpool 'are confident' the deal will go through, but have lined up Kevin Gameiro, the PSG striker, as a Plan B loan signing.

GOOD NEWS FOR LIVERPOOL
But Raheem Sterling has apparently signed a new contract. Loads of people say so.

Few details on that one here.

CARROLL WANTS A TOON RETURN
Hmmm, interesting one in The Daily Star, if such a thing is possible.

They report that Andy Carroll, having been told that he isn't wanted at Liverpool (if that hadn't been made quite clear before), wants to go back to Newcastle.

The paper reports that although he quite likes it at West Ham, he wants to go back home.

They claim: 'Now Carroll believes a cash-plus-player deal, possibly involving Toon top scorer Demba Ba, could provide a route back to his beloved North East.

'The Senegal ace has been linked with a transfer and has a £7.5m release clause in his contract.'

Now, we were under the impression that Carroll's loan deal between West Ham and Liverpool included an agreement for a permanent transfer at the end of the year. No?

FEW IN FOR REMY
Loic Remy looks like being a wanted man in England this January. Even though most clubs in Christendom have been linked with the Marseille forward at some point or other in the last couple of years.

Newcastle are the club with the strongest links to Remy at present, and it seems the man himself would be keen on that one.

He's quoted as saying: "Newcastle is a great club with great players, and a nice stadium that is always packed. I can't say any more than that.

"It is normal for there to be rumours around January, but if I am to leave then all three parties need to be in agreement as I have signed a contract with Marseille. It depends on me."

Meanwhile, The Times reports that QPR have 'stolen a march' on their rivals 'after the France forward held talks with the West London club's officials this week'.

The paper also claims: 'QPR have also inquired about Kenwyne Jones, but have been rebuffed in a bid to sign Peter Crouch, another Stoke City forward, who played under Redknapp at Tottenham and Portsmouth.'
