ALL CHANGE AT UNITED
Interesting one in The Daily Mail, who report that Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs are all set to retire at the end of the season.

The Sun backs them up on this one (must be true, etc and so on), with both papers claiming Scholes will call it quits for good this time, having previously retired once, had a testimonial, them come back.

Ferdinand's departure seems the least clear, with the Mail only claiming that he has 'yet to indicate publicly whether he wishes to extend his contract.'

So if he goes, who will Fergie replace him with? The Mail reports:

'Recently, for example, Ferguson sent scouts to watch £15million-rated Argentinian defender Ezequiel Garay play for Portuguese club Benfica in games against Sporting Lisbon and Olhanense.

'He has also been looking closely at Molde's Norwegian international centre back Vegard Forren.'

BA & REMY: A REPLACEMENT STORY
Here's Alan Pardew on Demba Ba's future:

"It's unfortunate that the contract he has leaves open a lot of questions because we have this clause and every window that comes around, I have to answer the same questions.

"It would be disappointing for him to leave in this window for this club and for his team-mates here, but the decision will be his, ultimately, because that clause is there.

And if he does go, then according to The Daily Mirror, Newcastle have a replacement lined up.

The paper reports that Newcastle have agreed a £10million deal for Marseille forward Loic Remy, beating off (leave it) competition from West Ham, QPR and Spurs.

ARSENAL WANT £5MILLION FOR ANDRE SANTOS
Andre Santos probably isn't quite as bad as many will have you believe.

However, he is pretty rubbish, so we'll just present this story from The Sun and run away, before we get too caught up in such a weighty debate.

The paper reports: 'ARSENAL have turned down a £2.5million bid from Galatasaray for flop Andre Santos.

'The Gunners want to recoup £5m of the £6.8m they paid Fenerbahce for the Brazil left-back, 29, last term.'

PAY MORE FOR INCE, LIVERPOOL
Looks like Liverpool's cast-iron guaranteed double-deal to sign Tom Ince and Danny Sturridge isn't quite as cast-iron or guaranteed as we thought.

Here's what Michael Appleton had to say:

"As far as I'm aware I think there's been a conversation between Karl and Liverpool regarding an offer but, as far as I'm aware, it's way below the type of money we'd expect for someone of Tom's talent," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Obviously the chairman keeps me informed but I think it was just an initial conversation between himself and Liverpool and there was a figure used but obviously it's way below, like I say."

WEST HAM AFTER ANELKA
Looks like West Ham want Nic Anelka.

Sam Allardyce's assistant manager Neil McDonald is quoted as saying in The Daily Star:

"We are looking for good players and Anelka is a good player.

"He had a fantastic relationship with Sam."
