The De-Mob Gossip

No wonder he looks happy - his Liverpool pay-off is either £3m or £4m. Plus; Spurs want Villa, Inter want Lampard.

JOE COLE IS QUIDS IN
If you believe The Sun (and we know that's a dodgy way to start any sentence) then Joe Cole will earn £10m-plus over the next 18 months - which is pretty good for a 31-year-old has-been who has barely kicked a ball in the last six months.

The Sun claim that Liverpool will give Cole a £4m pay-off to leave the club, while West Ham will take over the last 18 months of his £90,000-a-week deal. Quite what the Hammers are thinking (shirt sales?) or where he fits into that West Ham side is anybody's guess, but there's one big winner in this deal: Mr Joe Cole.

Even if the Daily Mail are right and the pay-off is closer to £3m, that's a pretty good wedge.

Nuri Sahin is likely to follow Cole out of the Anfield exit door, with reports suggesting that Fulham, Inter Milan and Sahin's former club Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the midfielder if they can arrange a deal with Real Madrid.

LAMPARD TO INTER?
In amongst the Demba Ba developments is a line in The Sun that Inter Milan are 'lining up a swoop' for Frank Lampard. We're not sure you have to swoop for a player out of contract - just sending a car to pick him up outside the ground would do the trick - but we're happy to believe that the Italian club want him as a replacement for Wesley Sneijder.

SPURS IN FOR VILLA
The Daily Mail seem pretty intent on finding David Villa a club in England - the latest club to be linked are Tottenham after Arsenal and Liverpool were both apparently put off by the £16m transfer fee for a 31-year-old. It's difficult to see Daniel Levy fancying that deal either.
