DIAME FOR ARSENAL?
We've been saying for an awful long time that Arsenal need a more physical presence in midfield and that physical presence could be Mohamed Diame, who is available for just £3.5m because of a release clause in his West Ham contract.

According to The Sun: 'The Hammers have offered the Senegal star, 25, a new deal just six months after he joined from Wigan Athletic. But it depends on him agreeing to double a release clause to £7million. Diame has yet to sign and the Gunners are keen on him - just as soon as he proves his fitness again.'

REMY OFFER DOUBLED
Those of you baffled by Loic Remy's decision to snub Newcastle and head to QPR will be interested in the Daily Mail's claim that the Frenchman has been offered double wages at Loftus Road with the Hoops stumping up £80,000 a week. Yes, that's £80,000 a week at a bottom-off-the-table club. Lordy.

'And Hoops boss Harry Redknapp is hoping to secure another £8million deal for Rennes' midfielder Yann M'Vila who is also believed to be on his way to Loftus Road in the next 24 hours,' says the Daily Mail.

As for Newcastle, it seems that Rennes striker Mevlut Erdinc once again becomes the obvious choice.

CITY EYE DEFENDERS
It seems a tad short-termist to us but the Daily Mirror claims Manchester City will make a move for a new centre-half 'if Vincent Kompany loses his red card appeal'. As the Belgian is only set to miss games against Fulham and Queens Park Rangers as well as an FA Cup clash, this all sounds rather odd. But we're willing to go with it.

They claim that Borussia Dortmund pair Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels are the names in the frame, though it's not made clear whether City would move for both (perhaps in a BOGOF deal?). Apparently a move for Daniele De Rossi is 'unlikely' (Matthew Stanger will not be happy) while Ryan Shawcross' new deal makes him too expensive.
