SNEIJDER TOO DEAR FOR LIVERPOOL
There has been much talk of Wesley Sneijder going here, there, everywhere, and specifically in this case Liverpool, but it seems that he won't be moving to Anfield.
Well, depending on which paper you read, that is.
The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool have been 'put off by talk of a £6million a year salary demand AFTER tax, which equates to almost £240,000-a-week.'
Indeed, Brendan Rodgers seemed to dismiss such talk in his press conference on Thursday:
"You could probably rattle off about 20 names and the answer would be the same. The club have been linked with a whole host of players, but I couldn't see that [Sneijder] happening."
However, The Daily Express reckons Liverpool could still be in for the Dutchman, if he will accept a wage cut.
The paper claims Rodgers 'will make a sales pitch to Wesley Sneijder if the Inter Milan playmaker is serious about accepting a drop in his colossal wages.'
We'll believe it when we see it.
VALDES TO LEAVE BARCA
Interesting line from Spain, where reports have emerged that Victor Valdes doesn't want to stay at Barcelona - more than that even, he says he won't renew his contract that expires next year.
A few details on that are here.
BAGGIES WANT COATES
It seems Sebastian Coates isn't going to stay at Liverpool for too much longer, and there are a couple of theories as to his destination in the papers.
The Daily Mirror reports that West Brom want to take the Uruguayan centre-back on loan for the rest of the season, with plenty of teams sniffing around Jonas Olsson.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail thinks Boca Juniors are keen on the defender.
BALOTELLI AGENT HOLDS TALKS WITH MILAN
Ah, who the hell knows where Mario Balotelli will be next season. The man himself isn't too sure where he'll be next week, never mind next season.
Still, the talk of AC Milan won't go away, helped along rather by his agent meeting Adriano Galliani in Italy.
What's quite funny is that the papers/City are still insisting that they can get anything like the money they paid for him.
The Sun reports: 'And a bid in the region of £24million could be enough to persuade City to part with Balotelli this month.
'Balotelli's representative Mino Raiola was spotted at the Italian club's offices, sparking speculation they were taking the first steps towards a deal.'
