ARSENAL TO GAZUMP NEWCASTLE?
Oh, don't do it Arsene, they might not be able to take another one.
After Newcastle were gazumped by QPR for Loic Remy, it seems they might suffer the same fate over Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
Newcastle had already agreed a fee of around £6.7million for the Montpellier defender in order to replace Fabricio Coloccini, but The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal might sneak in ahead of them.
The paper says: 'Arsenal have been scouting Yanga-Mbiwa for nearly a year and they have been checking on him to see whether he would be suitable to come in to compete with Carl Jenkinson next season with Bacary Sagna likely to leave next summer.
'Wenger has also wanted a versatile defender and Yanga-Mbiwa is also seen as having potential to be first choice in the French national team as centre-half.
'But it is understood Arsenal have some reservations about Yanga-Mbiwa and now they must decide quickly - or lose out altogether.'
ALSO AT ARSENAL...
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal have been offered Yoann Gourcuff on loan by Lyon, who want to get his £80,000-a-week wages off their books.
And they are apparently also keen on Victor Wanyama, as are Fulham.
So there.
SNEIJDER OFF TO GALATASARAY
Quick line from Italy/Turkey, and it does indeed look like Wesley Sneijder will be off to Galatasaray.
Some details here.
COULD LIVERPOOL GET COUTINHO INSTEAD?
So if Liverpool won't be getting Wesley, will they sign anyone else?
According to The Daily Mirror, they are interested in Inter playmaker Philippe Coutinho, but will have to offer a little more money.
Apparently Brendan Rodgers sees him as an alternative to Tom Ince, and could turn to the Brazilian after negotiations with Blackpool over Ince broke down.
The paper reports: 'The Reds were prepared to pay around £8million for the Inter Milan midfielder, but had that offer rejected at the weekend.'
BALOTELLI COULD GO THIS MONTH
Interesting tale in The Guardian about Mario Balotelli's future.
The paper reckons that the Italian could still move to AC Milan this month, but only if Manchester City drop their asking price for the striker.
'Adriano Galliani, the Milan vice-president, told Gazzetta dello Sport: "At the end of Friday, Manchester City still said €37m. We will see on Monday. Under these conditions, he will remain at Manchester City."
Apparently a deal might be struck at closer to £24million.
