Arsenal bid £19m for Higuain, new deal for Bale, Moyes minded to keep Rooney, Atletico say Falcao can go...
JOSE WANTS CHELSEA
It's a WORLD EXCLUSIVE in The Sun, so it must be big/true.
The paper reports that Jose Mourinho wants to go back to the club in the summer, once he's finished doing whatever the hell it is he's doing at Real Madrid.
The Sun claims: 'All the Special One is waiting for is the call from Blues' billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, who is desperately seeking a new manager to take over from reviled interim boss Rafa Benitez...
'But Red Rom had better be quick. Mourinho, who is sure to leave Spanish champs Real Madrid this summer, has already been bombarded with lucrative job offers.'
And Chelsea could be looking for a new man quite quickly, if The Daily Telegraph is to be believed.
That paper claims Rafa Benitez's job could be in danger if Chelsea fail to beat Wigan at the weekend, with mutinous fans and an unhappy owner losing patience.
The Telegraph claims: 'Despite opposition from fans, Benítez has thus far retained the support of Abramovich and his advisers despite recent indifferent results. That faith will evaporate should a top-four place appear in genuine jeopardy.
'Chelsea's high command were understood to be viewing the situation as "business as usual" yesterday, indicating that Benítez is safe for now. He is understood to have received messages of support from Abramovich confidantes in recent weeks, with agreement that he is right to highlight the balance of the squad, and the strain on resources of injuries and call-ups, as a factor in recent struggles.'
DAMIAO SAYS THANKS BUT NO THANKS
Interesting stuff from Leandro Damiao, who Spurs have been chasing since 1927.
Andre Villas-Boas suggested the other day that, after Spurs didn't sign the Brazilian striker in January, they wouldn't go back in for him in the summer.
And it's just as well really, for this is what the man himself had to say:
"[Internacional's] president Giovanni Luigi knows I always wanted to stay at Internacional, regardless of any offers that could come," he told Correio do Povo.
"I certainly thank Tottenham [for their interest], they are a big club in Europe, but my focus is on Inter.
"I hope to help Inter for a long time, I have a long contract and I am very happy and focused."
STOKE WANT £15m FOR BEGOVIC
The signing of Jack Butland by Stoke led most to assume that Asmir Begovic would be leaving sooner/later, and it seems plenty are keen on the Bosnian.
And Manchester United are apparently head of the queue, according to The Daily Mirror anyway, who claim that Sir Alex Ferguson really is set on replacing David de Gea at the end of the season.
Apparently Fergie has made Begovic 'his top choice' to replace De Gea, but he will have to pay £15million for his man.
Victor Valdes and Pepe Reina are still being mentioned as alternatives for United.
