TOON AND WEST HAM EYE CARROLL
It looks like there could be a scramble for Andy Carroll's signature in the summer, with both Newcastle and West Ham linked with a move for the striker.
Newcastle's managing director Derek Llambias has hinted that the Magpies may return for Carroll after a failed bid to bring the forward back to the North East last year.
"We've always had a bit of a soft spot for Andy here. He's a character and he's getting older and more mature - and he's stronger," Llambias told the Newcastle Chronicle. "It's unlucky what has happened at West Ham. He's still got a house up here. Andy was part and parcel of our growth."
West Ham captain Kevin Nolan is hopeful that Carroll will remain at Upton Park, however, with the Hammers having first option on a reported £17million deal for the England international.
"Andy was probably a bit harshly treated at Liverpool. I think most Liverpool fans were quite shocked at what happened to him in pre-season and him getting loaned out, but that's football," Nolan told The Mirror.
"I think Andy's perfect for us and we're perfect for him," said the Irons skipper. "Sam is definitely the right man to get the best out of him.
"But he's got to score goals or we won't want to buy him, will we? He's only scored two for us.
"He's got to start pulling his finger out for us if he wants us to buy him!"
FELLAINI WANTS CHELSEA MOVE
According to The Sun, Marouane Fellaini has told Chelsea to make up their mind and bid for him if they want a move to happen in the summer.
The Belgian international reportedly has a £22million release clause in his contract and is thought to be looking to join a Champions League club if Everton fail to secure a top-four finish.
"If Chelsea want to sign me, then they need to come forward with a bid for me," Fellaini is quoted in The Sun.
"I have heard about Chelsea's interest but I've honestly not spoken to them.
"Every season I've been here, top clubs have been asking about me but, for now, I'm happy at Everton.
"It might feel better to play Champions League football for Everton than Chelsea, as they gave me my debut in England."
'ARRY REVEALS SAMBA INTEREST
According to Harry Redknapp, QPR's record signing Chris Samba is already attracting interest from an unnamed 'big club'.
The towering centre-back moved to Loftus Road in January for around £12million, but Redknapp claims the Rs will have no problems making their money back if they are relegated to the Championship.
"When people say he is a risk and you're putting the club in a difficult position if it went down, you could sell Chris Samba for what you paid or more at the end of the season if you wanted to," said Redknapp. "Without a shadow of a doubt.
"I had a chairman ring me a week ago asking me about him and saying 'what would you do if you went down?'
"I said 'we ain't going to go down' but he said 'well, we want to sign him...if we'd have known he was available'. I am talking about a big club."
LAMBERT WANTS BIG MONEY FOR BENTEKE
Quick line from Aston Villa now, where Paul Lambert claims reported Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal target Christian Benteke will not be sold for anything less than £14million in the summer.
"If someone wanted to buy Christian, they'd better have a few quid in their pocket," said Lambert.
And asked whether Benteke's value has doubled since his £7million move last summer, Lambert added: "Yes, by miles. He's not just going to walk out of here for the value he came for, that's for sure.
"We have given him the opportunity to show what he can do and I think he is loving his football at the moment."
