PEP IN FOR BALE?
Sarah Winterburn wrote yesterday about her desire for Gareth Bale to join Real Madrid rather than Manchester City, but the Daily Mail believes that Pep Guardiola will hope to make the Welshman his glamour signing upon arriving at Bayern Munich.

The paper claims this as an exclusive, believing that the German giants would offer £50million for the Spurs man. However, the words "Sportsmail understands" can generally be treated with a degree of caution.

Add to this that there are no quotes from anyone remotely connected to Bayern, and this should probably be taken with the pinchiest of salt pinches.

SPURS JOIN BENTEKE RACE
Christian Benteke will be a wanted man this summer whether Villa survive the drop or not, and the Daily Telegraph today claim that Andre Villas-Boas will look to bring the Belgian to White Hart Lane.

After missing out on Leandro Damiao in January Spurs certainly need a striker, and this is one of those that does seem to fit. The paper claims that £15million may well prize the forward from Paul Lambert's dour grip.

Benteke's agent Kismet Eris has also had words on the issue, although doesn't name any club in particular.

He said: "If all three parties are agreeable then something could happen, but right now his focus is on Aston Villa - and helping them stay in the Premier League."

CHELSEA SOUNDING OUT MANAGER OPTIONS
The Daily Mirror, meanwhile, focus their attention on management issues at Stamford Bridge, claim that Malaga's Manuel Pellegrini and Juventus' Antonio Conte have been sounded out over taking over from (interim) Rafa Benitez.

The Pellegrini link is taken from comments made by the manager's agent: "Chelsea and other clubs have asked, but nothing else official has been said," whilst the Conte rumour is taken from an "Italian source". Dolmio, perhaps?

The Mirror somewhat undermine any inside knowledge by going on to also mention Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp, Diego Simeone, David Moyes, Gianfranco Zola, Gus Poyet and Dan Petrescu.

Nice tactic: Name nine coaches and one is bound to be right.

MOYES SHELVES CONTRACT TALKS
David Moyes will not discuss a new contract at Goodison until the end of the season, The Sun claims.

Presumably the newspaper got the sniff of this story through the following quotes from Moyes:

"I'll give as much as I can, but I've said - and I've spoken with the chairman - that I want to see how the team do. I want to see how we do in the cups, I want to see how we do in the league, and it's more than likely I won't make a decision until the end of the season."

With jobs in higher (and considerably more lucrative) places, such quotes will presumably set gossipy tongues wagging.
